Valnir: Tips & Tricks
In Valnir Rok you decide who you want to be and how you live your life.
However, there are a few rules and natural laws on which you should orientate gameplay strategy.
Inventory
Above all, take care in the beginning not to blindly take everything with you that you find along the way.
The weight and amount you can carry will depend on the kind of bags that you have. The more you carry in your hands, the slower you become. This can be crucial when escaping from wild animals or opponents, when every second counts.
Items
To create new items or to improve existing ones, you can collect herbs and food, fell trees and mine minerals. Experiment by combining different ingredients. Or, if you are preoccupied with other things, pay some NPC or other players to make items for you.
Sometimes, NPC or other players, drop items when they are killed. Or, with a bit of luck you may find a chest containing weapons, armour, currency, resources or food.
Specialization (planned)
You cannot please everybody, but you can try to become irreplaceable.
Choose your path and specialize e.g. in fighting (strength), hunting (skill) or in crafting. This will help you to become an important member of a clan or of an area, and might safeguard your survival.
Quests
No quest is compulsory, but if you accept a quest from an NPC or another player, and complete it successfully, you can win special items or the goodwill of a faction or god.
Factions
Besides clan membership, it might be beneficial to win the favour of a faction. This will give you advantages in negotiations, help you procure better items of equipment, and give you access to additional quests. In order for a faction to admit you, you must first gain their goodwill. Your behaviour will affect your relationship with factions.
Clans
Clan membership is definitely advantageous. Besides the guards which protect the clan settlement, you can accept jobs from other clan members and become a specialist within your clan. For example, as a smith you would have an appropriate workshop at your disposal.
However, these advantages don’t come cheap. You have to be able to afford them.
Accomodation
A roof over your head provides more than a place to sleep. Lodgings which are guarded can safeguard you from attack and your belongings from being stolen.
Be careful! Just as a neglected dwelling is vulnerable to the weather, so an unguarded house is vulnerable to thieves.
Divine Support
In Valnir there is no way to avoid contact with the gods. Therefore, you should consider carefully which of the three gods is most likely to help you most on your journey through Valnir.
PVP
You can attack other players on the server at any time, just as they can attack you. Be vigilant and be prepared to defend yourself and your property. If you die in a fight, all the items you were carrying will be lost and may be picked up by others.
Try to evade enemies and pay attention to your weapon’s range. Since all players have the same basic values, you need superior weaponry and armour to ensure victory in a fight.
To be rid of an opponent, you might choose to place a bounty on their head. However, they can lift the bounty by paying the sum themselves.
