Valnir: NPC Factions and Other Players
Whom do you support?
On whose support can you count?
With whom do you form an alliance?
Or do you go with your clan to war?
Factions (planned)
There are 3 factions on Valnir Island: The Vikings on the cliff, the enlightened ones in the elven village, and the smiths in the dwarf mines.
In addition to a clan membership, the player has the opportunity to join a faction, if he has a good relationship with that faction. Being affiliated with a faction has certain advantages in negotiations, in the acquisition of equipment and in the realisation of quests. The players relationship with the factions (benevolent or malevolent) is determined by his behaviour toward them.
There is also a faction of priests. They are basically neutral. Attacking a priest means that you lose both the favour of the gods and the favour of all factions.
PVP
Players can attack any other player on the server, at any time – if they dare.
If the player dies during a fight, he loses all the items in his inventory. Other players can pick them up.
After the player’s death, he has a choice of place at which to respawn.
Fighting
The combat system is action-oriented. This means that the player is able to dodge a strike or to block it.
In addition, the player has to consider the range of his weapon when attempting to strike his opponent.
All characters have the same attack and defence values. An advantage can only be achieved if the quality of one player’s weaponry and/or armour is higher than that of his opponent.
